US Weather Radar as Google Homepage Module

The GMaps US Weather Radar Module shows the present precipitation situation as detected by the Nexrad Radar system.

If you enter a ZIP in the configuration section of the module the local weather forecast is shown if you click on "Local Weather".

Here is a link to directly add the module to Google Homepage.

Using data provided by the Iowa State University Department of Agronomy and Weatherbug. More information about Nexrad is here.

I appreciate the Radar Module for the google homepage, however it does not work with Opera. The problem I am experiencing is that there is no data where the map should be its just white. So if you could make some adjustments to the javascript I would appreciate it.

Regards, Eric

I am using your Google Gadget. I ahve a question though. The cities name don the map are mostly small towns. It seems very strange especially when I compare it to other radar maps.

This is great. One suggestion howevere (if possible). It seems that maybe the transparency (or some other method you might be using) is not working to well. Compared to the original Google Map it is very very light on details. It's very hard to see borders (eg: Florida's coasts) and mostly everything is background white except for some major roads.

Nice gadget but it does not appear to update itself. It would be great if you could set an update time in 'options'.

Similar to "eschappe"'s problem with Opera, it does not seem to work with Firefox. Instead there is a white empty space where the map should be.

How do I get the map to refresh? It hasn't changed since I installed it.

I love the weathermap, but some suggestions for improvement:
- Need wind direction, otherwise how do you know if the rain is coming or going
- What do the different colours mean? There should be some kind of scale.
- As remarked by someone else as well, the borders between land and water are hardly visible.

Keep up the good work!

I'll echo the compliments about the module but also echo the concerns about the shading of the borders being to similar to the background.

I've been unable to determine why the wind direction arrows were suddenly removed from the Google Weather RADAR module. That was a great feature of the module. Was any explanation ever given?

Thanks, Disappointed

With the new release of the GMaps US Radar Module the mentioned issues like shading of the borders, missing wind direction, updating should be solved.

Also the module now supports a small weatherinfo of present weather conditions in an overlay which is turned on by default. Click on the station information to show a larger version.
